Mecabox flush-mounted back boxes: formats and dimensions

Solera Mecabox flush-mounted boxes provide the wall enclosure for compatible switches, socket outlets and other wiring devices. Selection must coordinate device format, number of gangs, available depth and conduit entries. This subcategory includes universal boxes and an American-type alternative with a different format.

Dimensions are width × height × depth. References 6625 and 625 are universal, linkable one-gang boxes whose data sheets state AENOR certification. The 6625 measures 65 × 65 × 40 mm and the 625 measures 67 × 77 × 42 mm. References 725 and 825 provide two- and three-gang enclosures with a depth of 42 mm. The 24CH/6 has an American-type three-module format and a depth of 51 mm; it should not be treated as directly interchangeable with a universal three-gang box.

Checks before installation

Compare recess dimensions with the wall construction and intended finish. Check device fixing points and the arrangement of supports and frames, especially for multiple devices. A box being linkable does not remove the need to verify the complete assembly. Reference 625 specifies five Ø 25 mm conduit entries; check the entries of each selected reference before planning the conduit route.

For plastering work, choose the corresponding protection accessory: PROT-6625 protects the screw heads of box 6625. Find these parts under Mecabox accessories. Both are universal and linkable one-gang boxes. The recess dimensions are 65 × 65 × 40 mm for 6625 and 67 × 77 × 42 mm for 625. Also check conduit entries and the space needed for the selected device and its wiring.

Is 24CH/6 equivalent to 825?

They have different formats. The 825 is a universal three-gang box measuring 217 × 67 × 42 mm. The 24CH/6 is an American-type three-module box measuring 110 × 73 × 51 mm. Compatibility depends on the wiring device and its support.
