Mecabox surface boxes: fixed, expandable and corner formats

Solera Mecabox surface boxes accommodate compatible wiring devices on walls or other supports specified for the reference. They suit refurbishment and extensions where a surface installation has been selected. The range distinguishes fixed-capacity boxes, box 9 expandable with CP-9 and corner boxes. Their dimensions and accessories are not interchangeable by default.

Box 9 is white and has entries for 10 × 16, 10 × 20, 16 × 25 and 25 × 40 mm trunking. CP-9 extends this box: the two-gang assembly measures 167 × 94 × 43 mm and the three-gang assembly 238 × 94 × 43 mm. These are dimensions of the extended assembly, not the CP-9 part on its own or fixed boxes 92 and 93.

Surface wiring and corner installation

Select capacity for the intended devices and check their supports, frames and fixing points. Then check trunking entries and the cable route. References 91, 92 and 93 and their NG variants offer white or graphite finishes. The 93CT and 93CTNG are three-module corner boxes for horizontal or vertical mounting as specified in their data sheets. The 93CT includes a rear cover for table fixing and measures 235 × 93 × 66 mm.

Frequently asked questions about Mecabox surface boxes

Can every surface box be extended with CP-9?

The stated compatibility of CP-9 is with box 9. Fixed references 91, 92 and 93 and their graphite variants should be selected for their own capacity. Do not assume that they accept this extension accessory.

How does box 93 differ from box 9 extended with CP-9?

The 93 is a white three-gang box measuring 235 × 96 × 43 mm. A box 9 assembly extended to three gangs measures 238 × 94 × 43 mm. Check the mounting space and device compatibility before choosing.

Does surface mounting mean outdoor installation?

No. It means the box is fitted on the mounting surface. Location conditions and protection against water or dust must be checked in the data sheet for the reference and complete assembly. The mounting method alone does not establish weather resistance.
