Mecabox: back boxes and surface boxes for wiring devices
Mecabox by Solera brings together flush-mounted back boxes, surface-mounted boxes and accessories for preparing, protecting and completing switch and socket points. Choose the enclosure according to the mounting method, wiring device format and available space in new builds and refurbishment work in homes, offices and commercial premises.
Three groups for different installation tasks
Mecabox flush-mounted wiring device boxes house compatible devices inside the wall. They include universal one-, two- and three-gang boxes and the American-type 24CH/6 with three modules. These formats have different dimensions and mounting arrangements: the number of gangs or modules alone does not establish compatibility with a device.
Mecabox surface-mounted boxes attach to the mounting surface for installations with surface wiring. Options include white and graphite finishes, one- to three-gang fixed boxes, an expandable system based on box 9 and corner boxes. Mecabox accessories cover construction protection, closing covers and insulated connection blocks, each serving a different purpose.
How to select a Mecabox box
First choose flush or surface mounting, then check the wiring device reference, mounting support and enclosure dimensions. For flush mounting, consider the wall recess and available depth; for surface mounting, consider the external footprint and cable route. Conduit or trunking entries must match the selected box. Allow the space required for conductors and connections by the assembly instructions.
Keep specifications tied to the relevant reference. Boxes 6625 and 625 state AENOR certification, while the CP-9 extension is intended for box 9. What is the difference between a flush box and a surface box?
A flush box sits in a wall recess, so its opening and depth must be planned. A surface box sits on the mounting surface. Choose according to the installation method and the compatibility between the wiring device, its support and the box.
Are all Mecabox boxes universal and linkable?
The range includes several formats. References 6625 and 625 are described as universal and linkable; 725 and 825 are universal two- and three-gang boxes. The 24CH/6 is an American-type box. Check the individual data sheet before combining boxes, devices and frames.
Does a surface-mounted Mecabox box automatically suit outdoor use?
Surface mounting describes the installation method, not an ingress protection rating. Where water, dust or other particular conditions are present, check that the declared IP rating and conditions of use of the reference and complete assembly are suitable.
