Energy meters: tracking consumption with CONT30R
The Solera CONT30R meter measures active energy in single-phase alternating-current circuits. It is the reference published in this category and provides local consumption readings at the panel, a resettable partial-consumption register and a pulse output for a suitable receiver. It is used to track consumption in indoor circuits or services, for example in homes, offices, shops and communal areas.

Applications and selection criteria
To compare consumption periods, record the initial and final kWh readings and the duration of each period. The difference between readings represents energy consumed; it must not be confused with instantaneous power in kW. The EP partial register helps track a specific interval, following the device’s reset instructions.
Before selecting CONT30R, check that the circuit is single-phase, its voltage and current match the product data, and there is space for two modules. The data sheet specifies indoor domestic or tertiary use and an ambient operating temperature of −5 to +40 °C. The declared current range does not permit conductor overloading or replace circuit sizing and protection.
To collect pulses, check the receiver input, voltage, allowable current and the manual’s connection diagram. An open-collector output requires a compatible interface; it does not imply Wi-Fi, Modbus or direct remote access.
Frequently asked questions
Which reading is set to zero by the reset?
The manual identifies EP as the resettable partial-consumption register. It specifies holding the reset button for 10 seconds to set that reading to zero. Reset should not be described as erasing all registers; consult the product’s display descriptions and procedure.
How are output pulses converted into energy?
The manual specifies 1,000 pulses per kWh, equivalent to 1 Wh per pulse. A compatible receiver can count these pulses and convert them into energy. This constant alone does not establish electrical compatibility with the receiver: the open-collector output limits must also be checked.
Does CONT30R disconnect the supply above 80 A?
CONT30R is an energy meter. The 80 A figure is the declared maximum load, not a protective trip threshold. Select and coordinate the overload, short-circuit and residual current protection required by the installation.
