Air conditioning pre-installation boxes: vertical or horizontal water outlet
Solera air conditioning pre-installation boxes prepare a recessed space in the wall for organising incoming services and water drainage before the equipment is fitted. These thermoplastic boxes are intended for flush mounting in masonry in indoor domestic and tertiary settings. References 77, 177, 78 and 178 offer a choice of drainage direction and an internal box for electrical connections.

References 77 and 177 have a vertical water outlet; 78 and 178 have a horizontal outlet. The drainage unit is described as independent and reversible. This does not establish that every reference can be converted from vertical to horizontal: select according to the drainage type specified for each model. References 77 and 78 include internal watertight connection box 665; references 177 and 178 are supplied without that internal box.
Box features and wall recess preparation
The data sheets specify 30 knockout entries for Ø 32 mm conduit, a central anti-deformation partition and a plastic-claw cover with the option of using screws at the same time according to the product description. The claw fixes the cover; it does not describe a hollow-wall anchoring system for the box.
The reference characteristics tables state internal dimensions of 430 × 147.5 × 65 mm. Check the drawing and instructions for the selected reference before preparing the wall recess: internal dimensions must not automatically be used as the required wall opening. Coordinate box position, incoming services and the drainage route with equipment and project requirements.
How to select the installation version
First determine whether the drainage route requires a vertical or horizontal outlet. Then decide whether the version including connection box 665 is required. Check available space, conduit entries and planned access before closing the wall. The pre-installation box data sheets declare IP40 and IK07. The internal watertight box supplied with some versions is a separate component and does not make the entire assembly an outdoor weatherproof enclosure.
