Classic Series surface distribution enclosures

Solera’s Classic Series surface enclosures house modular devices and mount onto the wall in indoor residential and commercial installations. The thermoplastic range offers 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 18 and 38-module models, with finishes depending on the reference.

Selection and installation

Calculate occupied modules and spare capacity. Check overall dimensions, rows, usable depth and fixing arrangements. Cable entry preparation varies: some models have smooth sides that require machining, so knockout entries should not be assumed for every enclosure. Also check whether the selected reference includes a DIN rail, frame or door and which accessories are compatible.

These enclosures are intended for indoor use. Check the IP rating and IK impact resistance on the selected product sheet; ratings must not be assumed for the whole range. IP40 provides no water protection and does not mean dust-tightness.

Documents and related solutions

Consult product sheets, drawings, installation instructions and the enclosure, frame and door compatibility table in the technical documentation. Compare other Solera enclosures for different installation requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Does a surface enclosure require a wall recess?

It mounts onto the wall, so it does not use the recess specified for a flush enclosure. Fixing and cable entry preparation are still required according to the reference. Check the support, cable routes and installation instructions before planning the assembly.

Do all surface enclosures have cable entry knockouts?

Do not assume this. Entry type depends on the model, and some enclosures have plain sides requiring machining. Consult product sheets, drawings and instructions to prepare entries and check fixing arrangements rather than choosing only by module capacity.

Which capacities are available in this surface family?

The catalogue includes 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 18 and 38 module enclosures. Choose by circuit layout and planned spare capacity, checking rows, usable depth and overall dimensions too. Capacity does not indicate included protective devices.
