Deribox surface connection boxes: formats and access
Solera Deribox surface boxes house electrical connections in visible installations. Choose them when the project requires a box outside the support instead of a recess. The range includes round and rectangular formats and a framed door reference.
Differences between references
414S is listed at Ø 93.5 mm with a round threaded lid. 515S, at Ø 113 mm, has a round lid threaded at the centre. White references 1662, 1664 and 1762 are listed at 65 × 65 mm, 132 × 65 mm and 82 × 82 mm respectively. 5508 is described as a surface box with frame and door.
Not every box shares the round models’ threaded closure. Check closure, depth and fixing for each reference as well as its front dimensions.
Selecting entries and connection space
Plan cable or conduit routing and check how entries must be prepared. Allow terminal and conductor space without obstructing closure, keeping access for inspection. Surface mounting does not imply watertight protection: consult the sheet for dust or moisture requirements. Verify specific compatibility when selecting finishes or replacement parts.

Frequently asked questions
Does every surface box have a threaded lid?
No. 414S and 515S are described with threaded lids; 5508 includes frame and door. Check other references’ closures individually.
Can a flush box be used as a surface box?
Do not assume the mounting methods are equivalent. Choose a reference designed for surface use and check fixing and entries.
Are front dimensions sufficient for selection?
No. Check depth, usable space, entries and connections in the sheet or drawing. The lid or door also requires opening access.
