Solera Metalbox is a range of distribution boxes for indoor electrical boards in homes, offices and shops, combining a thermoplastic box and cover with a metal frame and door.

  • Modular capacity: 14, 28, 42 and 56-module models to match the space required.
  • Indoor ratings: IP40 and IK07; IP40 does not provide protection against water.
  • Installation and access: Removable chassis to help prepare the devices and wiring.
  • Finishes and additional components: White or Metalbox Stile graphite frame and door, with accessories and spare parts selected by reference.

Metalbox boxes for indoor electrical distribution

Metalbox is Solera’s range of flush-mounted distribution boxes with a metal frame and door for residential and commercial installations. It houses the devices of an electrical distribution board and combines a thermoplastic box and cover with a metal exterior finish. Selection depends on capacity, the mounting substrate and the specifications of the chosen reference.

Capacities, finishes and additional components

The range offers 14, 28, 42 and 56 modules. Boxes with a white frame and door and the graphite Metalbox Stile version provide a choice of visible finish. The removable chassis helps with device preparation and wiring. Accessories and spare parts must be selected for compatibility with the model.

How to select a Metalbox distribution box

  • Capacity: add up the module widths of the planned devices and consider space for expansion. The number of circuits does not necessarily equal the number of modules.
  • Mounting: check the opening dimensions, available depth and reference suitable for the wall type. For hollow walls, consult the dedicated Blue range versions.
  • Operating conditions: check IP40, IK07 and the thermal dissipation stated in the data sheet. IP40 does not mean that the box is watertight or dust-tight.
  • Equipment: check which components are included and which accessories the installation requires. The enclosure and electrical protective devices are separate components.

Technical data and documentation by reference

Consult Solera technical documents and each model’s data sheet for dimensions, capacity, thermal dissipation, included components and installation instructions. This information helps confirm the selection before installing the board and identify compatible accessories and spare parts.

Tools for preparing the project

The reference configurator by housing type helps prepare an enclosure selection from the housing and board requirements. Then confirm the modules, mounting opening and thermal dissipation of the selected Metalbox. For an equipped or adapted solution, request a quotation for a special assembly, specifying devices, wiring and project conditions.

Frequently asked questions about Metalbox

Is a Metalbox box entirely metal?

No. The range combines a thermoplastic box and cover with a metal frame and door. Specify the materials of the individual components when selecting the enclosure.

Which capacities does Metalbox offer?

The range includes 14, 28, 42 and 56 modules. Select according to the space occupied by the devices, wiring requirements and planned expansion.

Can an IP40 Metalbox be used outdoors or around water?

IP40 provides no protection against water and does not describe a dust-tight box. Metalbox is intended for indoor use; rain, splashes or demanding dust conditions require an enclosure with suitable environmental ratings.

Can it be installed in a hollow wall?

Dedicated Metalbox distribution boxes for hollow walls are available within the Blue range. Check the reference and instructions; do not assume that a masonry box uses the same fixing system.

Does the box include circuit breakers and residual current devices?

The enclosure name does not mean that protective devices are included. Check the contents of the reference and distinguish an empty box from an equipped distribution board.
