How to choose electrical accessories

Check rated voltage, current and permitted load, connector type, earthing and included features. For products with cable, check conductor size and length. For damp or outdoor locations, verify the product’s operating conditions and IP rating. Switches, overload protection and surge protection are included only where the data sheet specifies them.

Accessory documentation and compatibility

Consult Solera technical documents to verify the selected reference’s ratings and instructions for use. For a power strip, compare the appliances’ combined load with the assembly’s limit; additional sockets do not increase its permitted power. For lighting, check compatibility between lamp, lampholder and mounting. Where a fixed cable route is needed, review trunking and mini trunking and select a system suitable for the route.

Frequently asked questions

Does every power strip include surge protection?

No. An on/off switch is not surge protection. Check the protection and features specified for each product reference.

Should I choose a power strip or a cable reel?

A power strip provides several connection points; a cable reel lets you extend and store the cable. Select according to distance, socket count and anticipated load.

Can a cable reel carry the same load wound and unwound?

Its load limits may differ. Follow the permitted loads and instructions specified for each cable state on the selected model.

Are domestic and industrial plugs interchangeable?

Not generally. Voltage, current, contact configuration and connection system must match. Use only adapters suitable for the equipment.

What should I check when choosing a lampholder?

Check the lamp base, voltage, thermal and electrical limits, mounting method and operating conditions in the data sheet.
