Solera is sponsoring the TO group who are participating in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2019 competition. The TO group consists of engineering students at the UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia). These projects will focus on sustainable construction. With this sponsorship, Solera aims to promote sustainable and efficient construction as an instrument to improve our ecosystem and, in turn, the quality of life.
The project of the TO group is a physical and social space that pushes the user to think about their habits and their effects on sustainability. With this project, the students of the UPC intend to generate a change in the ecosystem through the creation of a house that obliges new ways of use and consumption, new daily practices and new forms of interaction and life.
The Solar Decathlon Europe is an international competition that has been held since 2007. It aims to promote sustainable construction through projects generated by students of European universities.
This year, the competition will focus on renovating existing buildings using modern technologies and materials which adapt to the seasons to maximise internal comfort.
